Hockey’s Federer, a player who is highly revered: Nashville defender forever on the club’s pedestal.

Swiss defenseman Roman Josi has become the new franchise record holder for the most regular season games played for the Nashville Predators.

In the night’s game against Ottawa (2-5), Josi played his 957th career game, surpassing American forward David Legwand for the top spot on the franchise’s all-time list. The Predators drafted Josi in 2008 at 38th overall, and he is now in his 14th season in the NHL. After 957 regular season games, Josi has tallied 190 goals and 532 assists. In 91 playoff games, he has accumulated 45 points (12+33).

Josi becomes one of six defensemen in NHL history to have played at least 900 games and hold the record for most games played in a single organization. In addition to the Predators’ captain, the leaders of franchise records include Ray Bourque (Boston/1518 games), Ken Daneyko (New Jersey/1283), Chris Phillips (Ottawa/1179), Harry Howell (NY Rangers/1150), Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay/1101), and Kevin Lowe (Edmonton/1037).
