Liverpool Secures Victory Over Relegation-Threatened Wolves
Luis Díaz and Mohamed Salah led Liverpool to a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton in Sunday’s Premier League clash.
The victory helped Liverpool maintain their lead at the top of the table and bounce back after a disappointing FA Cup exit to second-tier Plymouth (0-1) and a midweek 2-2 draw against Everton in the Merseyside derby. Wolves remain 17th, just two points above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Tottenham edged past Manchester United with a 1-0 win, climbing to 12th place at the expense of their opponents, now sitting 15th, one point behind Everton.
James Maddison scored the only goal in the 13th minute against a depleted United squad, further weakened by the injury of Amad Diallo. The forward, who has netted nine goals across all competitions this season, suffered an injury in training, and coach Ruben Amorim confirmed he is likely out for the rest of the season.
With eight players sidelined, United’s bench was filled with academy prospects, most of whom had never played for the senior team. One of them, 17-year-old Danish forward Chidozie Obi, made his debut, replacing Casemiro in stoppage time.
