
Malkin Wants to Finish His Career in Pittsburgh: “I Love This Team”
Evageni Malkin has ended speculation about a possible return in his homeland, making it clear that he intends to retire as Pittsburg Penguin.
In an interview with athletic, Russian forward dismissed the rumors that he was considering going back to KHL to play for his childhood club, Metalaz Magnetogersk.
“I know what some people are saying – that I will return to Russia and play for my home team. But I have never said so. I will finish my career in Pittsburgh. Penguin is my team. I love this team Let’s do it when I retire, “said Malkin.
A Pittsburgh legend since 2004
The 38 -year -old was composed a second draft by Penguin in 2004 and remained an important person in the franchise for about two decades. His visit to NHL began in Magnitogorsk, where he played before jumping in North America. He returned briefly during the 2012–13 NHL lockout, but otherwise spent his entire professional career with Pittsburgh.
Malkin insisted that his play days in Russia have ended with a possible exception.
During his career, Malkin plays an important role in the success of Pittsburgh, which helped the team win three Stanley Cups (2009, 2016, 2017). With Sydney Crossbie, he is the backbone of the crime of the penguin, which strengthens his legacy as one of the greatest players in the franchise history.
Return to the horizon by injury
Out of the last 16 matches of Penguin, 10 Malkin has missed the significant time due to injuries in this season. His most recent appearance was on January 25 to defeat Seattle Crackon, where he suffered a low body injury.
