Tennis beauty in a vicious circle: The 22-year-old champion will be looking for her seventh coach.
British tennis star Emma Raducanu is once again in search of a new coach—her seventh since turning professional.
She and Nick Cavaday have mutually agreed to end their partnership, with Cavaday citing health concerns as the primary reason for his departure.Cavaday had been coaching the 22-year-old for the past 14 months, playing a key role in her comeback after surgeries on both wrists and an ankle. Under his guidance, Raducanu successfully climbed back into the top 60 of the WTA rankings.
“Right now, my priority is spending more time at home and focusing on a full recovery. Given the demands of the WTA schedule, that wouldn’t have been possible. I’m pleased that Emma has found stability in her performances since returning to the tour,“ Cavaday told AP.
Raducanu made headlines in 2021 when she became the first qualifier in history to win a Grand Slam singles title, claiming the US Open crown at just 18 years old. Currently ranked 61st in the world, she has worked with several coaches throughout her career, including Nigel Sears, Andrew Richardson, Torben Beltz, Dmitry Tursunov, and Sebastian Sachs. Cavaday had previously coached her during her junior years before rejoining her team in late 2022.
With the search now on for her next coach, Raducanu will be looking for stability as she aims to regain her place among the WTA’s elite.
