USA Remain Perfect, Advance to Tournament Final

Canada managed just one early goal against their North American rivals.

Team USA leads the standings with six points and has become the first finalist of the 4 Nations Face-Off. Jake Guentzel scored twice, while Dylan Larkin added a goal and an assist.

The game started with intensity, featuring three fights within the first nine seconds.

At Montreal’s Bell Centre, Connor McDavid opened the scoring on a breakaway, but it turned out to be Canada’s only goal of the night.

The Americans responded before the first intermission through Guentzel. In the second period, Larkin gave the U.S. the lead, finishing a 2-on-1 rush with a precise shot past Jordan Binnington’s pad and inside the far post.

Canada increased their offensive pressure in the third period, but goaltender Connor Hellebuyck stood firm. In the final moments, Canada pulled their goalie for an extra attacker but conceded an empty-net goal to Guentzel, sealing the win for the U.S.

After an opening overtime win against Sweden (4-3), Canada suffered their first loss of the tournament. To advance, they must now defeat Finland in their final game in Boston. Meanwhile, Team USA is guaranteed first place and a spot in the final ahead of their last matchup against Sweden.
